EVANGELISTIC PREACHING

I. GENERAL SPEAKING CATEGORY INSTRUCTIONS

A. Each entry must include a live verbal presentation.

B. Presentations are to be no longer than ten (10) minutes in length including prayer and invitation.

C. Participants must provide four copies of:

1. Presentation Information Sheet (form provided by Word of Life).

2. Outline, not the entire text, for the judges at the time of the presentation at Area, Regional and International levels

The outline:

a. Must be typewritten or neatly printed.

b. Must state:

1) Participant's name.

2) Title of presentation.

3) Bible text or passage on which it is based.

c. Must include: introduction, main points, sub-points and conclusion.

D. Each presentation must:

1. Be based on a Bible text or principle.

2. Be geared to move the audience to a spiritual decision (i.e. salvation, dedication, etc.).

3. Include an introduction, application and a public invitation, which matches the content of the presentation and must be presented live by a teen (not a puppet,etc.).

E. Set-up time will be limited to ten (10) minutes.

F. Adults, teens and children who are not registered participants are not permitted to be involved in the presentation, i.e. operating audiovisual equipment, handing or receiving props during presentation, warning of time remaining or any other form of coaching or prompting from the audience.

G. Although humor has its place, every presentation should first and foremost provide a spiritual challenge and application that is true to the Scriptures and which glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ.

H. We recognize signing as a legitimate ministry and it may be used in any category as long as it meets the rules of that category. The presentation will be judged on the basis of the rules of that category, not the signing. Signing in individual categories must be done by the individual participant in that category.

I. Any type of dance or dance interpretation is not permitted in any category.

J. Two-point deductions will be assessed for:

1. Each minute or fraction thereof, for not being ready after allotted set-up time.

2. Each minute or fraction thereof, for going overtime.

3. Assistance given by someone other than those in the presentation.

II. SPECIFIC PREACHING INSTRUCTIONS

A. Qualification

Open to individual male teens.

B. Props Allowed

Bible, sermon notes and pulpit only.

C. Presentation must move the intended audience to a salvation decision.
